Morning, all!
Fun little speed run from our beloved leader today. Not much in the way of speed bumps, although I had to dig a little deep to remember NEMEA and it took some perp help to confirm PORED since I'm not used to seeing it without "over". Didn't get the theme while solving, but figured it out when I got to the reveal.
Fishing wasn't too bad yesterday. The rain kept mostly to a drizzle and it was cool enough that I could wear rain gear. Caught one decent bass. Today may be more problematic, since it's supposed to be stormier and warmer. Hard to fish carrying an umbrella...
Good Morning, Argyle and friends. This was quite a speed run, I only needed one pass to complete the puzzle. My only stumble was NEMEA, but the perps filled in all those blanks.
NITER was a new word, too, but is as apparently another term for Potassium Nitrate.
Battery-free smoke detector = NOSE was my favorite clue of the puzzle.

Thanks for the speed run, C.C. Once PARTY POOPER and PET PEEVE showed up, I thought we were in for a P-fest. Not to be. Just a couple of stumbles in the race to the bottom.
I don't have AUTO-CORRECT on my flip phone. In fact, I'm not sure it's capable of sending a text. Apparently it's capable of voice mail, because folks have told me they get a "mailbox not set up" message when calling me.
Patiently waiting for Bill to arrive. DW's betting on 4+ inches of rain. My $20 says we get less than 1/2 inch. We'll see....
Sped thru this one, but could not see the thing hidden. I came to the Blog early to find out where the theme entries were supposedly misspelled. (Doh!)

CC, good puzzle. Just right for a Tuesday. I needed the reveal to see the theme. As a nonnative speaker you certainly have a fine command of much informal English.
I like the way my WORD program highlights questionable spellings and lets me choose whether or not to correct them. The only flaw is that once in a while it allows misspellings that form real words. My busy body Kindle on the other hand over-corrects in a flash and I end up with gibberish. I can confirm what I have written, only if I do it instantaneously. CED, too funny!
Today after my PT I am taking Alan to lunch and then to the doctor for his regular injection. He is disappointed that I will then drop him off at Rehab as soon as we are finished. Last time I stayed and I was so beat I couldn't go to the square dance that night. I am president and should be there.

The clue for 6D would have been much better if it was, "punkin," a la James Whitcomb Riley.
If I invite someone from the balcony (67A), aren't I asking them to come down? Shouldn't the clue be, "Invite TO the balcony"? Unless there's such a thing as an "ask-up" (as a noun), which is new to me.

The Kindle causes me to gnash me teeth when I reread what IT has written. It is such a nuisance to correct. Correcting just my own typos would be much faster.

Got through this one quickly. Nice Tuesday puzzle. Caught the theme after I had finished. Very good.
Misspelled ARIEL as ARIAL. PET PEEVE fixed that. That is my only inkblot.
Never know if the answer will be DNA or RNA, so I always leave the first letter off until I know with a perp.
At outdoor picnics we always throw the CORN COBs out in the grass away from the table to draw the flies to them instead of us. It works somewhat.
I dislike AUTO CORRECT generally. It corrects things I do not want corrected. I have learned to carefully proofread what I have written to catch these. Not that I am a typing expert. I make mistakes.

A largely easy enough puzzle form C.C. today. Thank you. Strangely, 1a and 1d were the last to be filled.
Liked the long downs. I don't use AUTO-CORRECT; I let the text editor insert a wavy red line under questionable
word spellings. which are easy to ignore if not apt. Knowing TYPO was in the long acrosses gave a head start on sussing them.
OLAV (of Norway) is also spelled with an 'f'. Just have to wait on the perps. Don't let it be a PET PEEVE.
Still wearing the binder from my ventral hernia repair procedure. Residual pain gradually diminishing. On just Tylenol, now.
Hope Gary's operation went well. Know the drill; BH had to endure a similar experience 7 yrs ago.

It is interesting to read yesterday where everyone was trying to put an E in ARIAL typeface and today, they want an A in ARIEL. C.C. threw in ARAL just for extra fun.

To turn off autocorrect,
Open "settings"
scroll down & open "General"
scroll down & open "keyboard"
Deselect Auto-correction, note that if you you leave check spelling enabled, you will still have a red line under questionable words, but it will not change anything.
For the REALLY Iphone challenged, (I fall into this category)
It took me forever to realize that in order to edit text, all you had to do was hold down your finger over the text, & a little magnifying glass would pop up enabling you to not only edit, but read those tiny little letters. Just slide your finger to move the magnifying glass around.

I love a C.C. puzzle on a Tuesday morning (well, heck, on any and every morning) and this one was a total delight! I breezed right through it, hesitating only over MISSY until I got the MCRIB. Loved seeing Juliet ASK ROMEO UP the balcony. And, yes, NOSE was a riot. I worried I wouldn't get the theme since I don't have a Smartphone and don't text, but it was no problem at all and I loved getting all those TYPOS.

Surgery went fine yesterday and I am already up, off the IV “tree”, showered and have eaten a real meal. I am going for a walk with my lovely bride. Thanks for all the fine words of encouragement. Quick puzzle, easier than yesterday.
Theme was no problem. I took off auto correct after experiencing my first annoyance. When I make an error, the red line shows me something is wrong, and pressing the word makes several alternatives pop up in a list. I press the one I want, and it puts the correct one in. Unfortunately, it doesn't work on this site or some others, so I try to be careful.
C.C. As others have stated, your command of the English language is masterful. Would never have known you weren't a native.
My favorite part of the corn is the cooked cob itself. Cracking the cob open, you find a sugary core. I love to suck the sweetness from it. Delicious. I don't waste anything.

With the U.S. Open starting this week, I wonder if the sports fans here on the blog think of the USGA as a PARTY POOPER for golf or as a champion for the common duffer? The undulating greens combined with uncharacteristic dry conditions will make many putts impossible. did you see Bubba Watson's practice putt from last week? With the links style course that will punish the occasional wayward shot, I predict Tiger will fly home Friday evening with EMPTY POCKETS.

Our youngest granddaughter is here for the week, so I've been a bit busy. Shopping yesterday, baking and cooking today. We planted new blackberries this morning and she cleaned up after that chore. We have to keep her busy, because she would rather sit and watch TV. She earned her shopping trip with a great report card this last quarter.

Chickie, our local grandson needs to be encouraged to do stuff too; not breaking away from TV as much as he is gets enthralled playing games on an iPhone or something called a 3DS. Once I get him playing a game with me, going for a bike ride, watching a nature video or something social, he's fine. But getting him to put down his electronic device can be a struggle. I guess it's similar to all of the older kids who can't be found without a smartphone underneath their thumbs.
Lucina, I have yet to visit Arizona, but it's most certainly on my to do list!
